Born into a farming family at Collingwood in May 1959, I am privileged to have lived in the safe and very beautiful Nelson Province for sixty-three years.
Vote Graeme K Tyree for a healthy environment, climate resilience, safer transport choices, longer-term planning, and a better democracy.
My strength is not that of an individual, it is of the community.
I will consult, listen, speak and act to unite rather than divide us. Since August 1990, I have been actively involved in numerous community organisations - this is not my first rodeo. I am an energetic, approachable, empathetic, and fastlearning human being. My skillset involves using evidence and expertise to propose workable solutions to complex problems. I possess monetary nous and will collaborate to manage City finances prudently. I am a local writer, publisher, and genealogist. Since March 2020, I have produced nine historical books.
I am a member of the management committee of NELSUST, the Nelson Transport Strategy Group, Inc. Previous community-based roles include: successfully campaigning for MMP during 1992-93; and co-founder and Trustee, Nelson Bays Sustainable Living Trust. When elected, I will diligently advance measures to mitigate and adapt to human-induced global warming. It is essential to both promote resilience in our local infrastructure and levy affordable rates.
